Eagle Eye, 2008

Yesterday I had the privilege, yes, privilege, to see the new movie Eagle Eye. It was one of those miscellaneous moments when I had the urge to see a movie, and bought a ticket to a movie that just sounded good at the box office. It actually ended up to be pretty well thought out.

Rating: C+

Director: D.J. Caruso

Starring: Shia Labeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Billy Bob Thornton

Plot: Jerry Shaw (LaBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Monaghan) are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situation, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move. As the situation escalates, these two ordinary people become the country's most wanted fugitives, who must work together to discover what is really happening -– and more importantly, why.

My thoughts: I'm not too soft for Shia Labeouf, for one thing. He seems to always play the same rolls in movies; an average guy who is thrown into a situation that is bizarre and unreal. Although he plays the roll well, I just can't warm up to him. Even though Labeouf isn't one of my favorite actors, Eagle Eye still KICKED ASS. The action scenes, for one thing. I love car chases. Not to mention the foot chases were full of excitement as well. This is a movie that doesn't stop to let the audience stop relax and think things through very often. The plot continues to go through twists and turns throughout the entirety of it. As more details and clues are thrown in, the viewer realizes there's more to the story than originally thought. Although one thing I did not enjoy too much about this movie was that it was very far fetched. In some parts, I actually found it quite preposterous. I'm not going to say that some of the things that happened weren't possible, but they're not easy to believe. If you ignore these flaws, the movie will be rather enjoyable. The acting is perfect, and the story is full and complete. It is definitely one of the better action movies to come out so far this year.
